TUF winner Norman Parke released from UFC

MMA Fighting subsequently confirmed the news of Parke’s release.

Parke (21-5-1) made his UFC debut in 2012 as a member of Team UK on ‘The Ultimate Fighter: The Smashes,’ where he won a trio of decisions over Richie Vaculik, Brendan Loughnane, and Colin Fletcher to claim the season’s lightweight crown.

The 29-year-old native of Northern Ireland went on to achieve immediate success inside the Octagon, rolling to an undefeated 4-0-1 record to kick off his UFC career. His run culminated with his only career UFC finish, a second-round TKO over Naoyuki Kotani at the promotion’s memorable 2014 stop in Dublin, Ireland.

From there, though, Parke fell upon hard times, losing three of his last four fights, included a pair of controversial split decisions against Gleison Tibau and Francisco Trinaldo. Following another decision loss to Rustam Khabilov at UFC Fight Night 84, Parke was cut loose by the UFC.
