Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) recently announced a sensational welterweight showdown for its upcoming UFC 195: “Lawler vs. Condit” pay-per-view (PPV) event, taking place on Sat., Jan. 2, 2016, inside MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Neil Magny vs. Stephen Thompson.
Magny (16-4) is coming off a split-decision win over Brazilian standout Erick Silva back in August, which quickly erased his submission loss to Demian Maia at UFC 190. The 28-year-old Illinoisan is ranked No. 12 at 170 pounds and could break into the top 10 with a big performance in “Sin City.”
Speaking of the UFC rankings, Thompson (11-1) rocketed up to No. 8 by stringing together five straight wins, including a blistering technical knockout (TKO) victory over Jake Ellenberger at The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 21 Finale earlier this summer.
UFC 195 will feature the welterweight title bout between reigning champion Robbie Lawler and former interim titleholder Carlos Condit. In the heavyweight co-headliner, Stipe Miocic continues his march toward the 265-pound strap against ex-division kingpin Andrei Arlovski.
