UFC 197 results recap: If doctor clears Daniel Cormier, he wants Jon Jones at UFC 200

The rematch we have all been waiting for could headline UFC 200

Jon Jones may have very well caught a break when Daniel Cormier went down with an injury three weeks prior to their scheduled rematch at UFC 197.

The former Light Heavyweight kingpin was evidently rusty last night (April 24, 2016) following a year-long layoff, and had “Bones” been facing off against Cormier instead of Ovince St. Preux, he may very well have lost.

Still, Jones was able to accrue the unanimous decision victory in what was a much needed tune-up fight.

Check out the highlights here.

The win earned Jones the interim Light Heavyweight Championship, but the belt he desires rests in the Cormier household, and he is ready to take back what he never lost inside the Octagon.

Just days before the UFC 197 pay-per-view (PPV), Jones offered to main event UFC 200 against Cormier after Conor McGregor was officially pulled from his feature bout in July.

The current Light Heavyweight champ was in the booth for the UFC 197 main event, and made a statement to Jones moments after the final bell.

“If the doctor says I’m clear to fight in 11 weeks I’ll be at T-Mobile Arena w/ my belt.” @DC_MMA #UFC197 https://t.co/VndhYOaqWy

If “Bones” and “DC” are both given clean bills of health, you can bet the rivals will be standing across one another in the main event of the biggest event in UFC history on July 9, 2016 inside the new T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Let the games begin!
