WWE officials allowed Brock Lesnar to fight Mark Hunt in the co-main event of UFC 200 — which is set for Sat., July 9, 2016, at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada — on the premise that it would be a “one-off” bout before he heads back to the company that sparked his star.
“The Beast Incarnate,” however, doesn’t sound like a man who is looking to hop into the Octagon just one last time. On the contrary, speaking during a recent conference call via FOX Sports, Lesnar — now 100 percent healthy — isn’t certain that his Heavyweight showdown against “Super Samoan” is his last inside the eight-walled cage.
“I don’t know. I feel really good. Training camp is going great. I’m happy. I’m happy with my life. I’m happy with everything. Yes, since I left the Octagon after I got beat by [Alistair] Overeem and kind of forced out of the cage because of my illness, it haunted me for a long time. Here I am and before it’s too late, I want to get back in the cage and have some fun with it. This is all about having fun.”
“I believe I was meant to be a fighter, an entertainer and absolutely it’s one of those things for me, I want to get back in. It’s no mystery that I was forced out of this competition because of an illness I had. I tried to be the competitor I wanted to be, but it’s kind of hard to do when you have a disease and you fight back from it. I’m in a whole different spot mentally and physically in my life right now. Before I [become] a 40-year-old man, I want to get back in the cage.”
