Top-ranked Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) welterweight contender Stephen Thompson is picking Robbie Lawler to defeat Tyron Woodley in the upcoming UFC 201 pay-per-view (PPV) event (because of this), locked and loaded for tomorrow night (Sat., July 30, 2016) inside Philips Arena in Atlanta, Georgia.
As you might expect, that didn’t sit well with “The Chosen One.”
“The welterwhiners, there’s actually a few of them in here, they’re annoying,” Woodley told MMA Fighting. “Everybody has counted me out in this fight. You got ‘Wonder Woman,’ already talking about a match up between him and Robbie would be a great fight. What’s gonna happen is, I’m gonna win this fight.”
Speaking of welterwhiners…
Woodley (15-3) put together back-to-back wins over Dong Hyun Kim and Kelvin Gastelum to earn his crack at the crown — with a little help from Johny Hendricks and his never-ending appetite — while Thompson (13-1) has captured seven straight, recently turning away Rory MacDonald and the aforementioned Hendricks.
Who “Wonder Boy” fights next could depend on the outcome of “Lawler vs. Woodley.”
