UFC 202: Conor McGregor uninterested in Jose Aldo rematch, eyes options outside UFC

It was pretty much a foregone conclusion that win, lose or draw against Nate Diaz in their much-anticipated rematch at UFC 202, Conor McGregor would drop down to 145-pounds to defend his Featherweight belt in a title unification match against Jose Aldo.

Well, Conor won and he’s back to calling his shots again, as he told reporters after his instant classic with Diaz (see it) that he isn’t too keen on running it back against a man he demolished in just 13-seconds the first time around.

“How long was I going back and forth with Jose? That must have been a two-year build up. He pulled out last minute. I continued to fight someone else. Then we rescheduled, two-year round-the-world deal with that boy and then he stepped in and I beat him in 13 seconds,” McGregor said via Fox Sports. “It’s hard for me to get excited about that, especially after his last performance. It was a decision, he didn’t go out and get it. He didn’t go out and get it like I wanted him to get it. So I don’t know, we’ll see.”

“I’m the 145-pound champion. The interim 145-pound champion is a man that I KO’d in 13-seconds,” he continued. “I’ve got to figure out what’s next but right now, I don’t know what’s next. There’s many things in the pipeline so sit tight.”

As far as Dana White’s claims that McGregor would have to relinquish his strap should he choose not to defend it next, “Notorious” doesn’t think the promotion will be so quick to pull the trigger on that threat.
