Amanda Nunes is as respectful as they come, so don’t expect “Lioness” to be spitting terrible amounts of verbal fire toward Ronda Rousey just days ahead of their much-anticipated title fight at UFC 207 this Friday (Dec. 30, 2016) in Las Vegas, Nevada.
But, the women’s Bantamweight champion does have a message for “Rowdy,” telling Andy Nesbitt of FOX Sports 1 that Rousey’s time has come and gone and she better come to grips with the fact that she won’t be holding the title ever again
“I’m ready to take this belt home,” Nunes said. “This is a dream right here. She had her time and she let it go. Now, it’s a huge problem because she’s not going to have this belt back ever again.
Hey, someone has to promote the fight!
The title defense will be the first for Nunes since winning the strap by knocking out Miesha Tate at UFC 200 over the summer. The Brazilian is fully-prepared for a well-rested Rousey, as she’s been training for the Judoka since 2013. And if all goes as planned, not only will Nunes be going back home with her strap, but she’ll possibly send Rousey riding off into the mixed martial arts (MMA) sunset for good.
