As for disclosed paydays go, two, and possibly three men could earn more than the champion in Tyron Woodley.
UFC 209 is underway, and the disclosed paydays for the athletes have been released. Even with Khabib Nurmagomedov vs Tony Ferguson being cancelled, four fighters on the card can still earn over $500,000.
Interestingly enough, two of those fighters have a much higher disclosed payday than the welterweight champion in Tyron Woodley. If Stephen Thompson wins the title as well, he can earn more than him as well when it comes to the disclosed salary.
These of course don’t include any bonuses, or the champion’s cut of the pay-per-view sales that can bump up their payday significantly.
Here’s the rundown for the main card:
Tyron Woodley $400,000 to show, $100,000 to win
Stephen Thompson $380,000 to show, $180,000 to win
Alistair Overeem $750,000
Mark Hunt $750,000
Rashad Evans $135,000 to show, $150,000 to win
Dan Kelly $27,000 to show, $20,000 to win.
Lando Vannatta $27,00 to show, $27,000 to win
David Teymur $14,000 to show, $14,000 to win.
Amanda Cooper $17,000 to show, $17,000 to win
Cynthia Calvillo $10,000 to show, $10,000 to win.
As ESPN’s Brett Okamoto reports, had the bout pushed through, Nurmagomedov would’ve earned $500,000, and Ferguson would’ve had $250,000 to show and $250,000 to win.
