No Nate Diaz, no problem.

Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez will look to get back on the horse after begin bucked off his throne at UFC 205 last November by Conor McGregor, as he has verbally agreed to take on Dustin Poirier at UFC 211 on May 13 in Dallas Texas.

ESPN’s Brett Okamoto has the word:

The news comes just a day after Alvarez revealed he was “shocked” that Nate Diaz refused an offer from the promotion to meet him in the Octagon. Eddie further alluded to the fact that he was offered a fight against Poirier, but wasn’t too interested, preferring to hold out for a bigger name.

But, it seems “The Underground King” is done waiting, as he and “The Diamond” have verbally agreed to duke it out in the center of the cage this summer. Poirier is coming off a majority decision victory over Jim Miller at UFC 208, while Alvarez hasn’t competed since losing to “Notorious” at UFC 205.

UFC 211 will be headlined by a heavyweight title fight, as Stipe Miocic defends his belt against Junior dos Santos. In the co-main event, women’s featherweight champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk will put her 115-pound title on the line against division top contender Jessica Andrade.

Also on the card, Jorge Masvidal will face Demian Maia in a Welterweight matchup that could provide the next title contender.
