community news, UFC 213 salaries: Robert Whittaker cashes $350,000 for interim title win

Newly crowned UFC interim middleweight champion Robert Whittaker cashed the biggest payday of his career at UFC 213, earning a flat $350,000 purse for his successful title win over Yoel Romero in Saturday night’s main event. The Nevada Athletic Commission on Monday released the event’s finalized salary information.

Whittaker rallied back from injury and early adversity to defeat Romero via unanimous decision in a back-and-forth contest to capture the interim strap at UFC 213. Like Whittaker, Romero was also paid a flat fee for his work, earning a $350,000 purse with no potential win bonus for his main event effort.

UFC 213 took place July 8 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. The night’s main card aired live on pay-per-view.

The highest earner on the card was Alistair Overeem, who earned $800,000 for his polarizing decision victory over Fabricio Werdum in the night’s main co-main event.

In addition to their commission-reported salaries, Whittaker, Romero, Rob Font, and Chad Laprise also took home $50,000 fight night bonuses for their performances.

A complete list of the UFC 213 salaries can be seen below. As always, these figures do not represent a fighter’s total earnings, as certain sponsorship incomes, pay-per-view earnings or discretionary bonuses are not publicly disclosed.
