community news, UFC 216 results: Next matches to make for ‘Ferguson vs. Lee’ main card winners

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) returned to action for UFC 216: “Ferguson vs. Lee,” which went down last night (Oct. 7, 2017) inside T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The promotion’s latest mixed martial arts (MMA) card was headlined by an interim Lightweight title fight that saw Tony Ferguson claim the interim Lightweight title by submitting Kevin Lee. In the co-main event, Demetrious Johnson made history be scoring his eleventh straight title defense by submitting Ray Borg in entertaining fashion (see it again here).

Winner: Tony Ferguson

Who She Should Fight Next: Conor McGregor

I mean, it’s really a no-brainer, especially after “Notorious” went on record saying his number one priority was to now legitimize the 155-pound title in his first fight back in the Octagon.

Sure, there’s always the allure of the a Nate Diaz trilogy fight for Conor, but that isn’t important at the moment. What is important is seeing the Irishman finally defend his title, something he hasn’t done in over a year and failed to do with the featherweight title, as well. Ferguson made no bones about his desire to face Conor — or have “Notorious” vacate the strap. It will be an entertaining bout to say the least, and even he lead-up will have fans buzzing, as both men can bring it on the mic, as well.

Winner: Demetrious Johnson

Who She Should Fight Next: Henry Cejudo vs Sergio Pettis winner

“Mighty Mouse” recently stated that the winner of the upcoming bout between Cejudo and Pettis at UFC 218 should be the No. 1 contender, and after setting the all-time title defense record, Johnson has earned the right to call his shots. If he wins, Cejudo gets the opportunity to avenge his brutal knockout loss to Johnson a few years ago, while a win for “the Phenom” provides Demetrious with a fresh challenge. If and when he defeats either of those two men, “Mighty Mouse” can then set his sights on bigger fights at Bantamweight.

Winner: Fabricio Werdum

Who He Should Fight Next: Derrick Lewis

Now that he’s back on the winning track, Werdum is hungry to get back to the title, as he said he should be in line for a title shot after submitting Walt Harris in 65 seconds. But, he’ll need at least one more win to do it, as defeating a last-minute replacement not in the top 10 doesn’t get you to the big dance. And since he and Lewis were all set to throw down at the event before a back injury forced “The Black Beast” out, I’d like to see the promotion re-book the heavyweight showdown in a couple of months.

Winner: Beneil Dariush and Evan Dunham fight to a draw

Who He Should Fight Next: Rematch

After the two men fought to a split draw after three rounds of back-and-forth, entertaining action, it only makes sense to have them throw down one more time in order to crown a clear-cut winner. I mean, it’s a no-brainer, and I’m sure fight fans wouldn’t mind seeing another three rounds of these two 155-pounders going at it one more time.

Winner: Mara Romero Borella

Who She Should Fight Next: ???

Borella impressed in her Octagon debut with her win over Kalindra Faria. As for who she should fight next, that’s a bit tougher as the women’s flyweight division doesn’t have a whole lot of fighters at the moment. Once TUF 26 wraps, then she will have a bevy of contenders for her to take on. Until then, there’s not much I can do for you. Sorry.
