Check out the second episode of Embedded for UFC 222.
UFC 222 is almost here, and as usual, Embedded is here as well. The show that gives you an inside look at the marquee contestants on PPVs has issued the second episode for this weekend’s big show in Vegas, and it serves as a brief introduction to the fighters at the top of the card.
We start out in Huntington Beach, where Cris Cyborg mentions that she’s never taken a fight on this kind of short notice before. But her Chute Boxe mentality – anytime, anywhere – will get her through it. She also introduces her cats.
Over at Jackson-Wink, Yana Kunitskaya is preparing to leave for Las Vegas. In New York, Frankie Edgar is a guest on the UFC Unfiltered podcast. He talks about the title not being the priority right now, because he has Brian Ortega in front of him.
Sean O’Malley is at the UFC Performance Institute. He refers to his opponent as “Andre Soccer Mom”. His coach talks about working with him since he was 17, and O’Malley tells the camera “Andre, you’re f—ked buddy”.
Ortega goes to a restaurant/store in San Pedro where they do his meals for fight week. He plays a video game there, but it steals his quarter. “Welcome to the hood, bro.” He then heads over to TMZ’s studio to film something with Bruce Buffer. He says he respects Edgar and he’s not going to manufacture any drama.
Debuting fighter Mackenzie Dern gets some Embedded shine, introducing herself and talking about how she came up. She’s staying with family and discusses her nutrition a bit. Over at Checkmat, she trains with her coach and explains why she made the switch from BJJ to MMA. Finally, she tries to shoot down any comparisons to Ronda Rousey.
And that’s it! UFC 222 goes down in Vegas this Saturday night.
