Check out the first episode of Embedded for UFC 223.
UFC 222 is almost here, and as usual, Embedded is here as well. The show that gives you an inside look at the marquee contestants on PPVs has issued the first episode for this weekend’s big show in Brooklyn, and it serves as a brief introduction to the fighters at the top of the card. Well, one of the fighters at the top of the card is missing, since the headliner was just changed yesterday. But you get the idea.
We start out at American Top Team, where Joanna Jedrzejczyk talks about being the challenger and winning her belt back. Her coaches discuss her improvements since the last fight. Joanna goes home and takes an ice bath.
Off to Colorado to meet up with Rose Namajunas. Pat Barry is there as usual. Trevor Wittman talks about the mentality of a title fight. She takes an ice bath too, outdoors. Barry educates about the importance of such a thing.
Khabib Nurmagomedov arrives in NYC from San Jose. He’s excited about fighting in Brooklyn. This is before the injury news.
Back in Florida, Joanna says her weight cut for the last fight was horrible and she’s going to handle it better this time.
Immediately we’re back in New York with Khabib. They head over to Renzo Gracie’s academy for a workout. He talks about Tony Ferguson and “hopes” that they can actually fight this time.
Next up is Dana White announcing the big change, with Ferguson getting hurt and Max Holloway stepping in to fight Khabib. Khabib notes that Holloway actually said at a press conference that he’d step in if either he or Ferguson got hurt. Then they show the clip. Khabib thanks Holloway for taking the fight, but says it’s going to be a long night for him.
UFC 223 goes down this Saturday night in Brooklyn.
