UFC 227 is almost here, and as usual, Embedded is here as well. The show that gives you an inside look at the marquee contestants on PPVs has issued the fifth episode for this weekend’s big show in California, and it serves as a brief introduction to the fighters at the top of the card.
The episode kicks off with Ultimate Media Day. They start off with some quotes from the early main card fighters and show their face-offs. Henry Cejudo says he’s going to do his best to shock the world Saturday night. Cody Garbrandt says the sport comes down to inches, and he’s made the necessary adjustments to win his title back. They face off but don’t say anything to each other.
In the hotel gym, coach Danny Castillo talks about Garbrandt having as much fun as possible during the process, and they’ve assembled quite an entourage. Chuck Zito is there. Comedian Russell Peters is there. Dillashaw does a light workout and says he feels like he’s on weight but doesn’t feel bad at all, which is “amazing”.
Demetrious Johnson’s coach talks about his weight cut. Renato Moicano makes his first appearance, talking about his fight with Cub Swanson. Polyana Viana thinks she’ll get a finish. They show Cejudo in the bath. Swanson takes some questions on Instagram while cutting, and talks about wanting to fight at 155 before his career is over.
Weigh-is time. Short story – everyone made it.
They ask Sean O’Malley who is going to win the big fights. He takes TJ and DJ.
Now the ceremonial weigh-ins. Everything goes smoothly, no drama. Cody gets the parting shot, saying he’s going to knock the smile off TJ’s face and get his title back.
And that’s it! UFC 227 goes down in just a couple of hours in the Staples Center.
