It’s fight day for UFC 228 and we have had quite the shakeup towards the top of the billing, so it might be wise to take a gander at the closing betting odds. The main event of the evening is still intact with challenger Darren Till (-135) favored over the UFC’s defending welterweight champion Tyron Woodley (+125), but we have lost the original co-main. The (now-former) UFC women’s flyweight champion, Nicco Montano, was pulled from the event, leaving card-high betting favorite, Valentina Shevchenko, without a dance partner. As of Bloody Elbow’s midweek betting odds post, Shevchenko went from an opening line of -675 to a hysterical moneyline of -1300, so that’s quite a bit of coin that is getting refunded as a result of the botched bout.
Our new co-main event for UFC 228 bumps up top shelf strawweight showdown Jessica Andrade vs. Karolina Kowalkiewicz. With a hefty betting line of -440, the number two ranked Andrade is substantially favored over the number four Kowalkiewicz, who sports a sizable dog tag of +390. The new winner of the award for longest betting line of the night now goes to Zabit Magomedsharipov vs. Brandon Davis, with Magomedsharipov sitting at a stretched -1050 to Davis’ card-high underdog line of +850.
Now that Tyron Woodley only resides in the underdog realm, the tightest betting line of UFC 228 is found in the women’s bantamweight division with Irene Aldana vs. Lucie Pudilova. The 8-4 Aldana currently sits around -110 while the 8-2 Pudilova can be found anywhere from -110 up to +100. Another betting line that’s shorter than a shave is Abdul Razak Alhassan vs. Niko Price, with Razak Alhassan hanging around -120 and Price skimming the border at +100.
Tonight’s UFC 228 main card will air live on Pay-Per-View at 10:00 P.M. ET with the prelims starting at 8:00 P.M. ET on FS1. The exclusive Fight Pass prelims will begin at 6:15 P.M. ET.
