UFC 229 is just hours away, and as usual, Embedded is here as well. The show that gives you an inside look at the marquee contestants on PPVs has issued the sixth and final episode for this weekend’s big show in Vegas, and it serves as a brief introduction to the fighters at the top of the card.
We start off with Michelle Waterson, who greets her daughter in the hotel. Aww. Her mom says Khabib Nurmagomedov is going to win by decision, or get knocked out. Waterson imitates her mom’s accent, which is funny.
They set up for the morning weigh-in, and Khabib is first on the scale. Probably to prove a point. He makes 155. Tony Ferguson does the same. They show Conor McGregor being escorted in, shirtless, with a bunch of security and cameras around him. He weighs in on the backstage scale, hits 154.5, and has a bit of water. He’s still 154.5 on the main scale, and everyone in the room cheers.
Anthony Pettis comes in later, but makes 156. He talks about not getting too excited before the fight as he re-hydrates. Khabib eats chocolate for the first time in two months. “Okay, one and a half month”. That was amusing.
Dillon Danis gets Conor’s kid to punch a Khabib pinata. Artem Lobov talks about the crazy show that will be the ceremonial weigh-ins. They start late, because…well, it’s Conor after all.
Felice Herring and Waterson face off. Derrick Lewis and Alexander Volkov get heated after Lewis knocks off Volkov’s hat. They show Showtime and El Cucuy, then get to the headliner. Of course, Conor makes a spectacle of it. Dana tells them not to touch, but Conor slaps Khabib’s arm and throws a kick from archery range.
They say their piece to the crowd, and it’s all set! UFC 229 goes down TONIGHT!
