UFC 243 is almost here, and as usual, Embedded is here as well. The show that gives you an inside look at the marquee contestants on PPVs has issued the second episode for this weekend’s big stadium show in Melbourne, and it serves as a brief introduction to the fighters at the top of the card.
We start off with Al Iaquinta, who is eating in a restaurant. He appreciates that there are healthier options at restaurants in Australia and that he hasn’t seen many fat people. He then heads to a barber shop for a haircut. He came to Melbourne early to adjust. His training partner chugs a beer before they pay.
Over at the fighter hotel, Israel Adesanya is grabbing a bite to eat, but he drops his berries on the floor. “Ten second rule,” he says. Now it’s a one or two minute rule. He said he had malaria eight times as a kid and his immune system is f—ked. Crazy. He also discusses seeing Muhammad Ali and Jackie Chan as inspirations. He didn’t enjoy the Kelvin Gastelum fight, but he needed to go through it.
Robert Whittaker arrives in Melbourne. He takes travel days off of training to get his bearings. Dan Hooker talks about why he called out Iaquinta. He says it was not personal, he was just the highest-ranked fighter available. He does some media and discusses the Australia/New Zealand rivalry.
And that’s it! UFC 243 goes down in Melbourne Saturday night.
