The UFC will make its debut in Hamburg, the second largest city in Germany on Sept. 3, for a Fight Night card. It will be the first show since signing a television deal in the market after years where a local regulatory board had banned the sport being broadcast.

UFC announced today prior to the weigh-ins for Sunday’s show in Holland that they will be debuting in Hamburg, Germany on Sept. 3.

The Fight Night event will be held at the Barclaycard Arena, a 16,000-seat venue which is the major arena in Germany’s second-largest city.

No matches were announced for the show, but tickets for the event will go on sale on May 27.

UFC was expected to run more regularly in the German market due to a better television situation. There was a five-year period where due to political issues that have plagued the sport all over the world when entering many new markets, where they were off television completely.

They had debuted in the German market in 2009 and had run a second show in 2010.

The Bavarian State Media Authority had banned MMA from German television from 2010 to 2015, citing they were a violation of morality and an undesirable influence on youth. UFC only attempted one show in the country, a 2014 event in Berlin, after 2010.

The ban was overturned at the start of 2015 when Zuffa went to Administrative Court in Munich which ruled the board didn’t have the authority to implement such a ban, and also ruled that MMA was a plausible sport.

The company announced a deal with ProSebenSat 1 last summer, which debuted with airing UFC 190, the Ronda Rousey vs. Bethe Correia-headlined show. This will be the company’s first live event in the market since that deal went into effect.
