UFC Belem medical suspensions: Priscila Cachoeira, Tim Johnson potentially out 180 days

Priscila Cachoeira is not the only fighter to get long medical suspension after UFC Belem.

“Pedrita” was issued a 180-day suspension after losing to Valentina Shevchenko last Saturday, and will have to undergo knee surgery that could force her out of action for the rest of the year. Tim Johnson, who defeated Marcelo Golm in the main card, could also be out for six months.

The Brazilian MMA Athletic Commission (CABMMA) announced on Monday that Johnson was issued a 180-day medical suspension after his heavyweight win, but could return sooner if cleared by an otolaryngologist.

Speaking with MMA Fighting after the fight, Johnson said he’s hoping to be a backup plan for Andrei Arlovski vs. Stefan Struve at UFC 222.

In the main event, former champion Lyoto Machida defeated Eryk Anders via split decision. “The Dragon” was issued a 45-day suspension with no contact for 30 days following his close victory, and “Ya Boi” was given a 21-day term.
