Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is expected to hold its massive UFC 200 mixed martial arts (MMA) pay-per-view (PPV) event on July 9, 2016, inside the brand-new, state-of-the-art arena currently under construction in Las Vegas, Nevada.
An arena that could be called “UFC Center.”
That all depends on how much ZUFFA is willing to shell out for naming rights to the 20,000 seat arena, which could cost a pretty penny. I would also reckon that having the UFC brand splattered across an arena may deter some other folks — like Mayweather promotions — from holding events at the MGM-AEG facility.
It’s far from a done deal, but the promotion is definitely in the running.
“It’s a game changer for everybody,” UFC President Dana White told MMA Junkie. “For the fans, for the people that are putting on the shows, and obviously for the city.”
And for UFC, if it can lay claim to the name.
