It’s been more than a year since we last saw Chan Sung Jung inside the Octagon, and we’re going to take a brief trip down memory lane to look at his most recent fight.
The UFC featherweight contender, better known as “The Korean Zombie,” headlined UFC Houston against Dennis Bermudez in February 2017, having completed his mandatory military service in South Korea. He’d spent almost four full years away from MMA competition due to both that and also injuries, but he didn’t miss a beat against Bermudez, knocking him out in under three minutes. You can watch the entire bout in the video at the top of the page.
Here’s Tim Burke’s play-by-play of that short-lived contest:
Round 1 – Bermudez with a winging right. Zombie fires a counter right back. Zombie looking for a takedown. Bermudez with a knee on the break. Bermudez cracks him with a right. Zombie clinches. Bermudez goes body/head and shoots for a takedown. Zombie stuffs it and whiffs on a spinning backfist. Stiff straight left from Bermudez. Stuffs another shot. Jung with the left, Bermudez with the right. Zombie cracks him with a right uppercut and Bermudez is down! Follow-up punches and THE KOREAN ZOMBIE IS BACK IN STYLE!
Chan Sung Jung defeated Dennis Bermudez by TKO (strikes), round 1
Jung will take on short notice replacement Yair Rodriguez in the UFC Denver main event on Saturday, November 10th at 10 PM ET/7 PM PT on FS1.
