Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) lightweight champion Conor McGregor made his return to pay-per-view (PPV) last Saturday night, thanks to a sold-out appearance inside EventCity Exhibition Centre in Manchester, England, on Sat., Jan. 28, 2017.
Full recap here.
“Notorious” wasn’t fighting (he left that to the fans) but did dish some dirt on his mixed martial arts (MMA) career, which ended in comments (see them) that ruffled the feathers of UFC President Dana White, who responded in kind.
Then came the massive street fight after the show.
“There was a lot of confusion about what happened and how many people were involved in last night’s fighting,” Detective Inspector John Stainton told Manchester Evening News. “But we are now clear that there were a maximum of around 20 people involved in the disorder.”
Three of them were hospitalized.
Post-fight melees are not uncommon in combat sports, though they rarely take place without one or both of the Diaz brothers. No arrests were made after the 5,000 fans in attendance dispersed from the venue.
