What’s Hot:

After a 2.5-year layoff, Chan Sung Jung will make his long-awaited return to action when he faces surging 145-pound standout Dennis Bermudez in the main event of the FOX Sports 1 card. Having not competed since losing to Jose Aldo in 2013, it will be interesting to see just how “Korean Zombie” can compete at the highest level. But, the 145-pound fan favorite is adamant he’ll return like the “Korean Zombie” of old, and won’t back down from a fight. And that means fight fans could be in for a heck of a scrap, as Bermudez has shown he is always willing to tango.

Original card vs. Actual Card:

Evan Dunham was originally set to face Abel Trujillo, but an unfortunate injury bounced the former from the event. James Vick was set to throw down against Johnny Case, but after Case was forced out with injury, Vick was set up to face Trujillo. Ovince Saint Preux was originally set to take on Jan Blachowicz, but after Jan was scratched from the card “OSP” was booked to face newcomer Volkan Oezdemir.

Injuries:

Aside from the aforementioned Blachowicz, Case and Dunham, Justin Ledet was forced out with an injury, though it seems he was doomed from the start, as Ledet was notified of a potential doping violation from United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA).

New Blood:

It may not be under the best circumstances, but Volkan Oezdemir will make his Octagon debut against Ovince Saint Preux on a little more than two weeks notice. Also, Marcel Fortuna and Ricardo Ramos will get their chance to shine on the biggest MMA stage of them all.

How The Prelims Look:

It’s your basic filler undercard, however, I am very intrigued by the women’s Strawweight fight between Tecia Torres and Bec Rawlings. With both women coming off losses, expect them to come out firing to get back into the win column and back in the title race.

Who Needs A Win Badly:

Saint Preux has dropped two in a row and needs a win in the worst way. Granted, his losses have come against Jon Jones and Jimi Manuwa, but that won’t matter in the grand scheme of things as the new regime isn’t done clearing up space. And when it comes time to thin the herd, three straight defeats won’t do you any favors.

Interest Level: 6/10

It’s an okay card. Aside from “Korean Zombie’s” long-awaited comeback, the co-main event between Alexa Grasso and Felice Herrig is a little intriguing. We get to see the up-and-coming Grasso take on a longtime veteran and test that undefeated record (9-0, 1-0 UFC). Also, a bout that isn’t getting too much love is one pitting current Invicta FC Strawweight champion Angela Hill returning to the Octagon a champion, a she takes on Jessica Andrade. The winner could very well jump the line in the division and earn a title fight against Joanna Jedrzejczyk.
