Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) was back on television last weekend (Sun., June 25, 2017) with the UFC Fight Night 112 mixed martial arts (MMA) event on FOX Sports 1 (full results here), which featured a lightweight main event between Michael Chiesa and Kevin Lee.
The live telecast averaged 819,000 viewers, according to Dave Meltzer, which is not too shabby for a Sunday night when you consider comparable events — like “Garbrandt vs. Almeida” at UFC Fight Night 88 (757,000) — were unable to hit that mark.
The FOX Sports 2 “Prelims” card pulled 319,000 viewers (up) while the post-fight show on FOX Sports 1 only drew 268,000 viewers (down). UFC Fight Night 112 peaked twice at 905,000 for BJ Penn vs. Dennis Siver, then again for the main event.
Those fans who did stick around got to see the headlining controversy, when referee Mario Yamasaki and his 12-year-old heart hands botched Lee’s submission hold over Chiesa (more on that here).
Next up on FOX Sports 1 will be The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 25 Finale and you can see that developing line up here.
