Get a detailed breakdown of the betting lines for UFC Fight Night 113, which is set to hit The SSE Hydro in Glasgow, Scotland, this weekend (Sun., July 16, 2017), including best bets, underdogs, favorites and much more!
The volatile Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Welterweight division faces another shakeup this Sunday (July 16, 2017) when finishers Gunnar Nelson and Santiago Ponzinibbio headline UFC Fight Night 113, which takes place live from inside The SSE Hydro in Glasgow, Scotland.
In addition, surging star Cynthia Calvillo attempts to continue her rise against Scotland’s own Joanne Calderwood and Stevie Ray takes on Paul Felder in a clash of entertaining Lightweight strikers.
There’s no rest for the wicked, not even on Sunday, so let’s look at the odds behind UFC Fight Night 113: “Nelson vs. Ponzinibbio.”
What Went Wrong at UFC Fight Night 112?
I’ll tell you what: A fat Oklahoman and an incompetent referee!
When Johny Hendricks is on his game, he’s a surprisingly fluid combination striker with powerful low kicks and varied setups for his big left hand. When he’s not, he’s slow and gun shy. The guy actually out-Linekered John Lineker, coming in three pounds overweight despite having 15 more pounds to work with … and got torched. Damn.
I may just be covering my ass, but I honestly think a grappler of Michael Chiesa’s caliber could conceivably have survived another 20 seconds in Kevin Lee’s grip. We’ll never know, of course, because Mario Yamasaki didn’t even bother to grab Chiesa’s wrist before waving off the fight. Good job.
UFC Fight Night 113 Odds For The Undercard:
Danny Roberts (-245) vs. Bobby Nash (+185)
Alexandre Pantoja (-350) vs. Neil Seery (+260)
Galore Bofando (-230) vs. Charlie Ward (+170)
Daniel Teymur (-225) vs. Danny Henry (+175)
Brett Johns (-410) vs. Albert Morales (+315)
Leslie Smith (-170) vs. Amanda Lemos (+140)
Thoughts: Four of these people are making their UFC debuts and three of the others got knocked out in their last fights. Joy! Honestly, it’s probably worth avoiding the undercard entirely and focusing your betting efforts on the main six. Pantoja and Johns look like the safest picks, but the oddsmakers had the same idea. If you can turn a favorite into an underdog by adding one of the two to a parlay, do it, but otherwise steer clear.
UFC Fight Night 113 Odds For The Main Card:
Gunnar Nelson (-200) vs. Santiago Ponzinibbio (+170)
Cynthia Calvillo (-270) vs. Joanne Calderwood (+210)
Stevie Ray (-125) vs. Paul Felder (-105)
Jack Marshman (-425) vs. Ryan Janes (+320)
Khalil Rountree (-250) vs. Paul Craig (+190)
Justin Willis (-215) vs. James Mulheron (+170)
Thoughts: As a devout Ponzinibbio fan, I believe Nelson to be worth a look. “Gunni” has stood up to big hitters like Brandon Thatch, Albert Tumenov and Alan Jouban without issue, getting the better of all three on the feet before submitting them. Ponzinibbio is tough as nails and a dangerous boxer, but his ground game is not on Nelson’s level and he had issues with a skilled kicker in Nordine Taleb last time out. Nelson’s durability and grappling prowess make him enough of a problem that he’s worth an investment.
UFC Fight Night 113 Best Bets:
