Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) returns to the Fight Pass network on Saturday (Oct. 24, 2015) for “Holohan vs. Smolka,” which takes place inside 3Arena in Dublin, Ireland.
Asking mixed martial arts (MMA) fans to cough up a Saturday to watch a fight card holding little-to-no name value is a pretty tall order. In addition, it’s only available to those fans with subscriptions to the promotion’s online digital network.
I haven’t purchased one (yet).
Not because I have a fear of commitment (I do), but rather because I haven’t seen a card, to date, that has compelled me to lock in an agreement. In addition, I have monthly subscriptions to other streaming services like Netflix and Apple Music, so I have to pick and choose whose hand slithers into the Holland cookie jar.
I doubt I’m the only one.
Like most fans, I did my fair share of eye rolling when UFC announced that its Dublin card would be losing its main event, less than a week after it said goodbye to its co-headliner. Who do we blame for this treachery? Stipe Miocic and Joe Duffy for getting hurt?
