The UFC Fight Night 85: Hunt vs. Mir fight card on Saturday featured 24 fighters hoping to defeat their opponents in such a way that they’d take home a $50,000 bonus.
Despite a slow start with several fights going to a decision, the night finished strong with main event winner Mark Hunt and co-main event victor Neil Magny taking home the Performance of the Night honors.
Hunt was easily the highlight of the night for making quick work of former UFC heavyweight champion Frank Mir. He blasted Mir with one of his patented right hand bombs behind the ear that put the former champ’s lights out 3:01 into the fight. As soon as Mir went down, Hunt knew it was over, turned, and walked away before the referee even began waiving off the fight.
“He was somewhere else,” Hunt said about his confidence that the fight was over.

Magny’s performance was perhaps even more impressive, if for much different reasons.
Hector Lombard dropped Magny early in the first round and unloaded an unbelievable barrage on him for about three minutes, but Magny somehow dug deep and survived the round. He then turned the tables, putting the hurt on Lombard in round two, and then finished him via TKO stoppage early in round three.
Lombard has had more than 40 fights on his resume, but Magny became the first fighter ever to finish him.
The Fight of the Night honors went to Jake Matthews and Johnny Case. They fought a high-paced battle that looked like it was going to go wire to wire, but Matthews pulled ….View full article
