Thoughts: I’m thinking underdogs this time around; more specifically, Rin Nakai and Ross Pearson.
Nakai is definitely a limited fighter — she’s undersized for Bantamweight and a non-factor on the feet. The thing is, despite her height, Smith isn’t that big, either — she fought at 125 pounds in Invicta before joining UFC. Further, she’s not a good ring cutter and doesn’t use her height very effectively.
I think Nakai can grind her down, so a few on the “Queen of Pancrase” makes sense.
If you want to get statistical about it, Pearson will beat Laprise because he’s alternated wins and losses in his last seven fights and recently lost a decision. In terms of actual technical analysis, I’m not convinced of Laprise’s durability and there’s nothing about his game ….View full article
