The Ultimate Fighting Championship returned home to Las Vegas for Sunday’s Memorial Day Weekend fight card at the Mandalay Bay Events Center.
UFC Fight Night 88: Almeida vs. Garbrandt might not have carried the weight of the promotion’s biggest names, but it certainly packed a punch with the talent on the roster.
It was a tough draw on what is traditionally an American holiday weekend that signals the start of summer, but UFC Fight Night 88 managed to draw 5,193 people for a live gate of $359,000.

Heavy on bantamweight talent, UFC Fight Night 88 featured Thomas Almeida vs. Cody Garbrandt in the main event with Aljamain Sterling vs. Bryan Caraway taking the top spot on the UFC Fight Pass prelims.
Although the spotlight was shining heavily on Almeida and Sterling to win their fights, things didn’t go as expected.
Garbrandt knocked Almeida out in the opening round of their fight, while Caraway took a split-decision nod over Sterling.
