Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) returned to Fox Sports 1 for a thrilling mixed martial arts (MMA) event yesterday (Sun., May 29, 2016) in Las Vegas, Nevada.

In the main event of UFC Fight Night 88, Cody Garbrandt picked up the biggest win of his career by derailing the Thomas Almeida hype train via first-round knockout (video replay here).

In the co-main event, Jeremy Stephens and Renan Barao provided combat fans with a thrilling brawl, as they went toe-to-toe for 15 minutes, though “Lil Heathen’s” power ultimately proved to be the deciding factor in the fight.

Biggest Winner: Cody Garbrandt

It may be the easy choice to go with the headlining act, but this one was a no-brainer, as “No Love’s” first-round demolition of Thomas Almeida will go a long way in finally earning him some long overdue respect from the mixed martial arts (MMA) community.

Plus, it keeps him at a perfect 9-0 (4-0 UFC) and gives him bragging rights forever, as he will always be known as the first man to defeat Almeida, who was dubbed as the next big thing at 135 pounds. That’s a title that rightfully now belongs to Cody, as the huge win puts the rest of the division on notice.

Runner Up: Bryan Caraway

The often overlooked Bantamweight picked up one of the biggest wins of his career by taking out highly-touted Aljamain Sterling after three rounds of action.

For months, Caraway had to endure Sterling try to pick a fight with him, often times coming at he expense if his relationship with UFC women’s Bantamweight champion Miesha Tate.
