Mo’ money, mo’ problems …
The dust has barely settled on UFC Fight Night 90, which means it’s time to honor those select fighters who went above and beyond in their respective fights last night (Thurs., July 7, 2016) live from inside MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada (full results here).
Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) dished out its standard post-fight monetary bonuses to four of the 24 fighters on the Fight Pass-only card. Among the men going home with an extra $50,000 in their pockets is, unsurprisingly, Eddie Alvarez, who stopped Rafael dos Anjos with a first round finish to become the new Lightweight champion.
It was most likely a cathartic performance for the former legally-troubled Bellator MMA 155-pound champion.
Pedro Munhoz earned the other “Performance of the Night” award after he overcame adversity early and submitted Russell Doane via a super creative guillotine choke in the first round.
That’s not all.
Welterweight standouts Alan Jouban and Octagon newcomer Belal Muhammad went to war for a thrilling three rounds, with the former taking a decision after the latter came on strong late in a well-deserved “Fight of the Night.”
Here are the special UFC Fight Night 90 bonuses:
Fight of the Night — Alan Jouban vs. Belal Muhammad
Performance of the Night — Eddie Alvarez
Performance of the Night — Pedro Munhoz
Again, each fighter received $50,000 extra for their performances in addition to their respective base salaries, which Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) will disclose early next week.
