Joseph Duffy (15-2) must’ve had something else to do tonight (July 7, 2016) because`he made super quick work of Mitch Clarke (11-3), submitting the Canadian within seconds of the opening round at UFC Fight Night 90 inside MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Duffy won the bout via rear-naked choke. The official time of the stoppage came at 0:25 of the first round.
“Irish Joe” dropped Clarke within the first few seconds of the bout with a huge right hand, and the end came soon after. Duffy quickly transitioned to Clarke’s back and locked up the fight-ending submission.
It was a fantastic performance by Duffy, 28, who lost to Dustin Poirier his last time out. The Ireland native improves to 3-1 in UFC competition. The submission victory was the tenth of his career.
Meanwhile, it was a dreadful loss for Clarke, who has now dropped two in a row and is just 2-4 in UFC.
