Georges St-Pierre’s first appearance in the UFC in four years put him right back near the top of the P4P list,
Three new champions crowned at UFC 217 means some major upheaval in the official rankings. Georges St-Pierre, Rose Namajunas, and T.J. Dillashaw all top their respective divisional lists, and two of them are now ranked P4P. St-Pierre, after a four-year hiatus, re-enters the P4P list around the spot where he left – in the top three.
There were a bunch of other changes too, so let’s not waste time and we’ll just get down to it.
P4P – GSP’s big win over Michael Bisping made him a two-division champion, and he re-entered the P4P list at three. That dropped Max Holloway one spot to four, and Stipe Miocic two spots to six. Dillashaw entered the list at seven after knocking out Cody Garbrandt to claim the promotion’s 135-pound men’s belt. Garbrandt fell four spots to ten, and will probably continue to fall. Tony Ferguson is up three spots to nine for some reason. Amanda Nunes is up two spots to 12. Jose Aldo is down three spots to 13. Interim champ Robert Whittaker is up one spot to 14. Former strawweight champ Joanna Jedrzejczyk plummeted eight big spots to 15.
Heavyweight – Curtis Blaydes’ controversial win over Alexei Oleinik saw him rise three spots from 12 to nine. Oleinik fell two from nine to 11. UFC Norfolk fighters Junior Albini and Andrei Arlovski also fell one each, to 12 and 13 respectively.
Light Heavyweight – Ovince Saint Preux’s big KO win saw him move past Shogun Rua for the five spot. The man he knocked out, Corey Anderson, dropped one spot to eight. That allowed Misha Cirkunov to move up one spot to seven.
Middleweight – GSP entering the rankings as the champion upends the entire division. Bisping drops from champ to the two spot (Whittaker has the one spot as interim champ). Luke Rockhold drops two spots to four. Ronaldo Souza, Chris Weidman, Derek Brunson, Anderson Silva, Kelvin Gastelum, and David Branch all fall one spot, from five to ten respectively. Uriah Hall drops two to 12. Krzysztof Jotko is down one to 13, while Lyoto Machida is down one to 14. Paulo Costa breaks into the rankings at 15 after beating Johny Hendricks.
Welterweight – Stephen Thompson moves back to the number one contender spot after beating Jorge Masvidal. Masvidal dropped two spots from four to six, allowing Demian Maia and Rafael dos Anjos to move up one spot to four and five respectively.
Lightweight – No changes.
Featherweight – No changes.
Bantamweight – New champ Dillashaw is in…well, the champion’s spot. Garbrandt drops to the number one contender. Dominick Cruz drops from one to two.
Flyweight – Deiveson Figueirdo moved from 15 into a tie for 14 with Magomed Bibulatov.
Women’s Bantamweight – No changes.
Women’s Strawweight – New champ flips the top five. Namajunas moves atop the list. Joanna slips to the number one contender. Jessica Andrade, Claudia Gadelha, and Karolina Kowalkiewicz all fell one spot from two to four respectively.
