Georges St-Pierre continues to move up the pound-for-pound list.
Conor McGregor had a bad week PR-wise, and that may have cost him his stature on the pound-for-pound rankings. After becoming the UFC’s fourth two-division champion at UFC 217, Georges St-Pierre entered the P4P list at number three. This week, he passed Conor.
Here’s a look at all the changes coming out of UFC Norfolk, which had a surprisingly large effect on the rankings.
P4P – GSP is up to two, bumping McGregor to three. T.J. Dillashaw passes Stipe Miocic for six, dropping the heavyweight champ to seven. Cris Cyborg cracked the top ten, bumping Cody Garbrandt to 11. Robert Whittaker is up one to 13, dropping Jose Aldo to 14.
Heavyweight – By virtue of his win, Andrei Arlovski took Junior Albini’s spot at 12. Diaper Baby drops to 13.
Light Heavyweight – Jared Cannonier re-entered the list at 15.
Middleweight – Uriah Hall moved up one spot to 11, dropping Vitor Belfort to 12.
Welterweight – Demian Maia continues to drop, this time down one spot to five. This allowed Rafael dos Anjos to move up to four. Darren Till is now at seven, moving Carlos Condit down to eight.
Lightweight – Dustin Poirier’s big win in Norfolk surprisingly only moved him up one spot from eight to seven. This drops Kevin Lee one spot to eight. Michael Johnson drops two spots to ten, allowing Michael Chiesa and Al Iaquinta to move up one spot to eight and nine respectively. James Vick finally cracks the rankings at 14 after a win over Joe Duffy. Evan Dunham fell one spot to 15.
Featherweight – No changes.
Bantamweight – Raphael Assuncao’s Norfolk win moved him up one spot to three, dropping Jimmie Rivera to four. Marlon Moraes’ first UFC win led him to rise two spots to seven, dropping Aljamain Sterling to eight and the man Moraes beat, John Dodson, to nine. Rob Font is up one spot to 13. Matthew Lopez dropped one to 14.
Flyweight – A couple of fighters fell out of ties. Dustin Ortiz now has ten by himself, while Magomed Bibulatov now has 15 on his own.
Women’s Bantamweight – No changes.
Women’s Strawweight – Paige VanZant fell two spots to 12, allowing Alexa Grasso and Cortney Casey to move up one spot to ten and 11 respectively.
