UFC fighter rankings: Sergio Pettis, Alexa Grasso move up

There wasn’t much movement in the UFC rankings after a Mexico City event over the weekend.

Coming on the heels of UFC 214 didn’t put the Fight Night combatants in Mexico City in a very good spot. The card sorely lacked relevancy, featuring just a handful of ranked fighters on the main card. So it shouldn’t come as much of a surprise that not much happened in the UFC rankings this week. The winners of the main and co-main events did move up – but that’s about it.

Here’s a quick look.

P4P – No changes.

Heavyweight – No changes.

Light Heavyweight – No changes.

Middleweight – No changes.

Welterweight – Robbie Lawler fell from a tie for the number one contender spot with Stephen Thompson to having the two spot all by himself. Donald Cerrone moved into a tie for six with Neil Magny.

Lightweight – No changes.

Featherweight – No changes.

Bantamweight – Two fighters dropped out of ties. Raphael Assuncao is down to four, leaving Jimmie Rivera alone at three. And Marlon Moraes has the ten spot on his own, giving Thomas Almeida the nine spot.

Flyweight – Sergio Pettis’ big win in the UFC Mexico City main event saw him move up two spots into a tie for four with Wilson Reis. Jussier Formiga dropped one spot from five to six. Dustin Ortiz moved up one spot from 12 to 11 after his quick knockout win. Ian McCall slipped to 12.

Women’s Bantamweight – Ketlen Vieira dropped one spot from a tie for 12 to take 13 on her own.

Women’s Strawweight – Randa Markos’ loss to Alexa Grasso saw her tumble back down the rankings, dropping five spots from 9 to 14. Paige VanZant and Felice Herrig both moved up two spots to 9 and 10, while Joanne Calderwood dropped one spot to 11. Cortney Casey is up one to 12. Grasso enters the list at 13. Finally, Maryna Moroz dropped one spot to 15.
