community news, UFC files motion to dismiss lawsuit against Dana White and Co. in response to Mark Hunt’s lawsuit

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) heavyweight contender Mark Hunt filed a lawsuit against both the promotion and its president, Dana White, after learning that Brock Lesnar — along with his two opponents prior to UFC 200 — were using performance-enhancing drugs.

More on his juicy suit here.

Not surprisingly, UFC and its “powerhouse legal team” aren’t going to roll over just because the “Super Samoan” came out swinging. Especially when they can make a few legal filings of their own.

From MMA Junkie:

Las Vegas-based firm Campbell and Williams, which frequently litigates on behalf of the UFC, claims Hunt fails to establish a link “between the injury asserted and the purported injurious conduct” while attacking White with an “utter dearth of specific allegations,” according to a 26-page motion to dismiss filed today in in U.S. District Court Nevada.

That’s a fancy way of parroting this argument.

While that matter plays out in court — along with this one and this one — Hunt will be “forced” to fight Alistair Overeem in this weekend’s UFC 209 pay-per-view (PPV) event, held inside T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
