Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) two-divison titleholder, Vitor Belfort, has been down this road before. From the period between August 2004-April 2005, “The Phenom” dropped three straight fights.

In addition, the Brazilian was finished in two of those three defeats.

Fast-forward to March 2017 and Belfort, just a few weeks ahead of his 40th birthday, is once again staring down the barrel of a third straight loss, having recently come up empty to ex-Strikeforce champions Gegard Mousasi and Ronaldo Souza.

Is it too late to turn back the clock?

“People want to see the old Vitor,” he said. “That’s impossible. However, today’s Vitor might be better than before.”

We’ll find out this Saturday night (March 11, 2017) when “The Phenom” — who stands at 25-13 after more than 20 years in the hurt business — battles welterweight import Kelvin Gastelum.

They’ll do the deed in the five-round main event of UFC Fight Night 106 on FOX Sports 1, taking place inside Centro de Formacao Olimpica do Nordeste in Fortaleza, Ceara, Brazil (full fight card here).

A win and the No. 9-ranked contender is right back in the mix. A loss and it may be time to have … “the talk.”
