ABC 10 News reports that former Titan FC featherweight champion, and current UFC lightweight, Desmond Green has been involved in a multiple-vehicle collision in Davie, Florida. The incident, involving 5 cars on Interstate 75 has left two people dead.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Green was driving a Dodge Durango SUV at 6:15am Saturday, August 18th, when he apparently lost control of the vehicle and swerved in front of a semi truck. The resulting pileup wrecked three more vehicles, killing two passengers, Emelina Morfa and Emma Suarez Hernandez, and sending the driver of their car, Mily Vita-Vega, to the hospital with serious injuries.
Green reportedly suffered only minor injuries. Police are currently investigating what exactly caused him to lose control of his vehicle.
The 28-year-old ‘Predator’ is booked to face Mairbek Taisumov at UFC Fight Night: Hunt vs. Oliynyk, in Moscow this September. The event is set to be the UFC’s first foray into Russia. No word yet on whether the Green’s spot on the card will be affected by this incident.
