UFC lightweight prospect Marc Diakiese is ecstatic after his one-punch KO over Packalen, telling the media that he’s one of the very best in the world.
Marc Diakiese looked phenomenal against Teemu Packalen at UFC Fight Night 107 on Saturday at London’s O2 Arena.
The Doncaster-born fighter dazzled the home crowd with a variety of spinning kicks and ended the fight with a serious statement. Earning performance of the night honors, ‘Bonecrusher’ buried Packalen with a crushing right hand just 30 seconds into the opening round, scoring one of the best KO’s of the year.
Diakiese told Dan Hardy in the post-fight interview that he keeps telling everyone that he’s the best, and the 24-year-old talent didn’t let up backstage, excitedly telling reporters that he’s ‘one of the best guys going’.
“You want to start listening?! You want to hear something, don’t you?” Diakiese told MMA Junkie at a media scrum. “Simple as that: I’m the best. If you think you can beat me, then call me. If you’ve not fought me, you’re not a prospect. All these prospects, you come through me and our paths will cross. But if you don’t beat me, you’re not a prospect. Simple.”
“I haven’t been quiet,” he said. “But I’m ready for the Sweden card and in Scotland. Whoever they give me, I’m ready. I’m willing to step in with these guys. I’m one of the best guys going.”
The undefeated prospect, who has won eleven straight fights, isn’t currently ranked on the UFC’s official website but is sure to crack the top 15 with another impressive win.
Diakiese told reporters that he’s game for a fight with striking veteran Paul Felder, who called out the former BAMMA lightweight champion after his stunning KO at UFC London.
“(Expletive) him. I’ll fight him,” Diakiese said. “He wants to fight me? I’ll fight him. Simple!”
No one quite knows what’s next for Diakiese, but the British talent made a name for himself on Saturday as one of the most exciting and dynamic fighters in the lightweight division and is a hot prospect glowing on the UFC’s radar.
