Marc Diakiese wants to fight Drakkar Klose for a second time, and Klose is open to it, too, but under one condition.
The desire of a rematch is not mutual between Marc Diakiese and Drakkar Klose.
Diakiese is interested in once again fighting Klose, who handed Diakiese his first pro loss last month, because he has already improved as a mixed martial artist, he said. Plus, the fight was close — Klose won by split decision — and there was lots of bad blood between the two lightweights before and after 15 minutes of fighting. So Diakiese wants to set the record straight.
“I would like the rematch, but I know how hard it is to get rematches in the UFC,” Diakiese told MMAFighting.com last week. “I know I’m the better fighter. If I can get it, that would be great, but at the same time, I know it’s probably not likely with the UFC.”
Klose, on the other hand, who’s still undefeated, isn’t open to a rematch with Diakiese immediately, fresh off his upset victory at The Ultimate Fighter 25 Finale. The MMA Lab product said the Englishman should have to fight someone else — and win — before a rematch is justified.
But should all go well on Diakiese’s end in the near future, Klose would even be willing to fight in Europe to go 2-0 against “Bonecrusher.”
“Too early for a rematch,” Klose told BloodyElbow.com. “He needs to get a winning streak going again and I continue to win, and then we can have our million-dollar fight out on his turf.”
Diakiese and Klose fought on the TUF 25 Finale main card at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on July 12. Diakiese dropped to 3-1 in the UFC, while Klose improved to 2-0. Neither are in the top 15 at 155 pounds.
