Matt Brown scored a rejuvenating win via a first round knockout win over Diego Sanchez at UFC Norfolk.
Matt Brown intended for his UFC Norfolk co-main event fight against Diego Sanchez to be his last, after a 12-year professional run. Coming off a three-fight skid, “The Immortal” got himself back on the winning track via an emphatic first-round knockout.
What was the high point of the fight?
The entire exchange between the two veteran fighters was a fairly even one from the get-go. Sanchez was eager to start strong, while Brown kept his patience and timed his attacks.
As Sanchez threw a body kick, Brown caught it and fended off attacks using a stiffed out left arm. He then threw a right elbow from hell, hitting Sanchez on right on the temple. Sanchez fell to the ground face first, signaling the end of the fight at the 3:44 mark of the first round.
Where do these two go from here?
The men are in their mid-30’s, have gone through wars, and have established themselves as fan-favorites despite not having the opportunity to bag UFC gold. Both Sanchez and Brown have nothing else to prove, and for the sake of their health and families, retirement should be considered as the next option.
Watch it now, later or never?
If you are Matt Brown fan, this is a victory that is definitely one for the books. Watch it now, and on repeat for good measure.
