UFC on FOX 20 predictions: Chicago FOX Prelims undercard preview, Pt. 2

More fights are coming to Fight Pass and FOX this weekend (Sat., July 23, 2016) when UFC on FOX 20: “Holm vs. Shevchenko” kicks off from United Center in Chicago, Illinois. MMAmania.com’s Patrick Stumberg continues the UFC on FOX 20 “Prelims” party with the second (and final) installment of a two-part undercard preview series.

Two powerhouse strikers in need of a rebound win lock horns this Saturday evening as former UFC champion Holly Holm takes on Muay Thai menace Valentina Shevchenko in Chicago, headlining the UFC’s twentieth trip to FOX.

The co-main event pits Edson Barboza, fresh off his dominant win over Anthony Pettis, against former Strikeforce champion Gilbert Melendez in what should be a tremendous lightweight showdown.

We examined four of the eight scheduled preliminary bouts yesterday evening (see that preview here). Now it’s time to finish off the “Prelims” card with the remaining four fights, airing at 6 p.m. ET on FOX.

170 lbs.: Hector Urbina (17-9-1) vs. George Sullivan (17-5)

Competing as a middleweight, Urbina reached the quarterfinals of The Ultimate Fighter 19 before losing a decision to Cathal Pendred. In the UFC itself, he’s submitted Edgar Garcia and lost a decision to Polish takedown machine Bartosz Fabinski. “El Toro” has knocked out nine foes and submitted another five.

Sullivan upset then-hyped Mike Rhodes in his 2014 UFC debut, then thrashed Igor Araujo for his fifth knockout in seven fights. He’s since gone 1-2, sandwiching a decision over Dom Waters between stoppage losses to Tim Means and Alexander Yakovlev. He’s knocked out eleven opponents overall.

Urbina has been knocked out five times as a professional and Sullivan has a long history of laying people out; unless the Yakovlev knockout has severely damaged Sullivan’s confidence, this looks like a fairly straightforward pick.

Sullivan can do quite a bit of damage on the mat as well ….View full article
