Thiago Santos and Eryk Anders earned their money the hard way on Saturday night.
The light heavyweight duo put on a wild slugfest in the main event of UFC Sao Paulo, battering each other for three rounds before the bout was waved off in Santos’ favor at the end of the third.
It came as little surprise, then, that Santos and Anders earned Fight of the Night on the evening. Each competitor will take home an extra $50,000.
For Santos, it was the fourth post-fight bonus of his UFC career. Anders earned his second post-fight bonus, both of which have come in his past two bouts.
There were two Performance of the Night awards as well, as $50,000 apiece went to Antonio Rogerio Nogueira and Charles Oliveira.
Nogueira, fighting for the first time in nearly two years, earned his award for his second-round finish of Sam Alvey. It was the 42-year-old’s third UFC post-fight bonus and first since 2010.
Oliveira earned his with a submission victory over Christos Giagos, a second-round rear-naked choke. That was his 11th UFC submission, which surpassed Royce Gracie’s UFC record. That was the 12th post-fight bonus of “Do Bronx”’s career.
The UFC announced an attendance of 9,485 at Ginásio do Ibirapuera.
