Known for his weight cutting difficulties at welterweight, UFC Shanghai headliner Kelvin Gastelum nearly had a debacle at middleweight.
The UFC Fight Night: Bisping vs. Gastelum official weigh-ins have wrapped up, and we did have one fighter officially miss weight. Featherweight Rolando Dy, who retired and just as quickly un-retired, came in at 148 pounds for his preliminary card bout against Wuliji Buren, and he’ll be forfeiting 20% of his purse to Buren.
Your other bit of weigh-in drama came courtesy of Kelvin Gastelum. While Michael Bisping had no problem making weight, Gastelum was the last to step onto the scale, and for good reason. Gastelum initially weighed 187 pounds, but on the second attempt, towel across his body, he got down to 186. This is yet another problem for Gastelum at the weigh-ins, having missed multiple times at welterweight.
MMAjunkie has footage of the main event weigh-in, which you can watch at the top of the page. Ceremonial weigh-ins can be seen at the bottom of the page on Friday, November 24th at 6 AM ET/3 AM PT.
