UFC Shenzhen prelim results and highlights: Hernandez, Jung earn submission finishes

Headlining the preliminary card of UFC Fight Night: Andrade vs. Zhang is a middleweight tiff between Alexander Hernandez and Jun Yong Park. It was the American who ended up with the victory via anaconda choke in the second round.

Most of the the prelim fights ended via decision, except for two. The other finish came during the fourth fight of the night, where Korean Da Un Jung stopped Khadis Ibragimov via standing guillotine in the two-minute mark of the third round.

Here are the full results and some highlights:

Karol Rosa def. Lara Procopio via split decision (28-29, 30-27, 29-28): Women’s bantamweight

Opening the event is a women’s bantamweight matchup between two debuting Brazilians, Karol Rosa and Lara Procopio. It was a predominantly stand-up battle, with Rosa getting the better of her opponent.

A Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt, it was evident that Procopio wanted to bring the fight to the ground, but to no avail. She ate a good number of shots in the process and wasn’t really able to impose her game.

Alateng Heili def. Danaa Batgerel via unanimous decision (29-27 on all cards): Bantamweight

Two rising bantamweights put on a show in the second fight of the night. It was a firefight between Alateng Heili and Danaa Batgerel, but it was the former who ended up victorious.

The two slugged it out in the third and final round, leaving Batgerel’s eye almost swollen shut. Heili ended the round strong, giving him a unanimous decision verdict.

Damir Ismagulov def. Thiago Moises via unanimous decision (30-26, 30-27, 30-27): Lightweights

The battle of the lightweights in the third fight was a one-sided affair, with Damir Ismagulov dominating all three rounds. He peppered Moises with hard leg kicks to the left leg, leaving it all bruised up.

Ismagulov was simply better in all aspects, earning him a wide-margined win in the scorecards.

Da Un Jung def. Khadis Ibragimov via third round submission (standing guillotine choke): Light Heavyweights

The fight began with Ibragimov looking sharp. He was landing a barrage of punches as Jung had his back against the cage. But the Korean simply took it all in the chin and kept his composure, until Ibragimov showed signs of fatigue.

Later in the succeeding rounds, it was Jung was moving forward, until he found the opportunity to land a modified standing guillotine choke.

Su Mudaerji def. Andre Soukhamthath via unanimous decision (30-26, 30-26, 30-25): Bantamweights

Andre Soukamthath was looking to erase his previous loss, but he is once again facing defeat, this time at the hands of Su Mudaerji. The Chinese fighter was controlling the fight, dictating every aspect of it. Soukamthath simply had no answer to the attacks thrown against him

Mudaerji’s dominant performance showed in the scorecards, where also held a wide margin.

Anthony Hernandez def. Jun Yong Park via second round submission (anaconda choke): Middleweights

Anthony Hernandez flew thousands of miles to the other side of the world to take on Jun Yong Park, and he did make the most out of it. The American fighter emerged victorious with a submission finish in the second round.

It was a back-and-forth battle between the two light heavyweights, but Hernandez managed to get top position and finish the fight via Anaconda choke.
