Conor McGregor’s popularity hit an all-time high in 2017.

Expect UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor to drop this at the next media conference: he was the most searched athlete on Google in 2017, beating the likes of LeBron James, Tom Brady, and Floyd Mayweather Jr.

That’s according to a new study by Dana Rebecca, who used Google trends to generate a list of the top-ten most Googled athletes and celebrities.

McGregor, 29, garnered mega attention from his super-fight with Mayweather at Las Vegas’ T-Mobile Arena in the Summer. ‘The Notorious’ and ‘Money’ conducted a media world tour last year, with both fighters traveling to Los Angeles, Toronto, New York and London to promote the boxing match.

It was the second biggest fight in combat sports history, securing 4.3 million pay-per-view buys and generating over 600 million dollars in revenue. May-Mac was also the most illegally streamed sporting event of all time, with almost three million people logging on to watch the spectacle online.

McGregor, who trains out of SBG Ireland in his hometown of Dublin, lost the fight via 10th-round TKO but, even in defeat, earned millions of followers on Instagram and social media.

The Irishman hasn’t fought since he lost to Mayweather last year but is expected to return to the Octagon at some point in 2018.
