Ryan Hall (5-1) was eliminated on The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 22 “reality” show, but made the most out of his second chance tonight (Dec. 11, 2015) to become TUF 22 winner.
Hall, 30, defeated Artem Lobov (11-11-1 1NC) by unanimous decision in the Lightweight final at TUF 22 Finale inside “The Chelsea” at The Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas, Nev.
Two judges scored the bout 30-26 and the third had it 30-27.
The gifted Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt, who had two heel hook submissions on this season’s show, filled in for Saul Rogers, who could not make the bout because of a visa issue.
Hall dominated Lobov with his grappling skills and creative takedowns and submission attacks for the entire 15 minutes in a dominant and one-sided performance.
Hall rolled early on and got the takedown on Lobov and immediately attacked his leg. Lobov escaped, but Hall transitioned to the back of “The Russian Hammer” and nearly locked up a rear-naked choke. “The Wizard” had a body triangle secured and began to soften up Lobov with well-timed punches while looking to lock up another choke. Hall remained in control from the Russian’s back for the remainder of the round.
Hall missed a rolling entry for a takedown early on in the second, but pulled Lobov into his guard soon after. The Team Faber member tried for a leg lock, but Lobov escaped and made it back to his feet. Hall pulled Lobov back into his guard again with a little over two minutes left in the round. Hall went for heel hook, but could not get it. Lobov took top position, but couldn’t mount any offense.
