UFC veteran Tommy Hayden will make his long awaited Full Metal Dojo debut on Saturday, March 19, when he faces India’s Sandeep Yadav. The fight will headline the organization’s ninth show which is set for the Insomnia Nightclub in Bangkok.
Hayden (8-3) is a long term resident in Thailand and will be fighting for the first time since 2014. He signed for the UFC in 2011 on the back of an eight fight winning streak but went 0-2 during his stint inside the Octagon.
The American will be taking on former SFL title challenger Sandeey Yadav (6-2). The Indian established himself as one of the country’s top lightweights at a time when the MMA scene was buoyant but like Hayden he has been out of action for the last couple of years.
The event also sees the return of top ranked Cambodian featherweight Thai Rithy (4-1) who will be looking to rebound from the first loss of his competitive career when he takes on Thailand’s Veerayuth Uttapan (2-1).
Rithy will be one of two Cambodian fighters on the card with his team mate Sim Bunsrun (1-3) set to face Thai debutant Veerayuth Priyoporn in a strawweight contest. The former scored a submission win on his ONE Championship debut recently.
2016 looks set to be an exciting year for Thai MMA. FMD is putting on regular cards in Phuket and Bangkok while ONE Championship is heading to the country’s capital in May with an event that will also feature two of the most popular Thai bands.
