The UFC heavyweight documented his efforts to aid people affected by extreme flooding in Houston, TX.

Hurricane Harvey made landfall on the Gulf of Texas on the night of August 27th. The cyclone, which is still active as ‘Tropical Storm Harvey’, is the first hurricane to make landfall in Texas since 2005.

The extreme winds and rains battered coastal communities such as Galveston, Port Mansfield, and San Luis Pass and continues to do even as the storm moves further inland across Texas and into Louisiana. The catastrophic event has also lead to incredible amounts of flooding, especially in the Greater Houston area.

Houston is home to UFC heavyweight Derrick Lewis. Today, Lewis shared via his extremely active (and often irreverent) twitter feed, efforts by he and some friends to help people suffering from the intense flooding throughout the city.

Below are some of the posts Lewis had made in the past couple of hours:

Lewis is currently ranked 6th in the UFC heavyweight rankings. He took Fight of the Night honors in a loss to Mark Hunt in June and is currently scheduled to face former champion Fabricio Werdum at UFC 216 in October.
