UFC flyweight Priscila Cachoeira went under the knife Friday.

“Pedrita” suffered a meniscus and ACL tear in her UFC debut, and had surgery in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, to fix the issues, PRVT head coach Gilliard Parana told MMA Fighting.

Surgery was a success and Cachoeira is expected to be cleared to train again in six months, Parana said.

The flyweight entered the Octagon for the first time after building a 8-0 record in the Brazilian circuit, but suffered a one-sided beating by the hands of Valentina Shevchenko in the co-main event of UFC Belem on Feb. 3. Cachoeira injured her right knee seconds into the bout.

Coach Parana, referee Mario Yamasaki and UFC matchmakers were criticized after the fight. The PRVT leader was criticized for not throwing in the towel or stopping the bout after “Pedrita” told her that she injured her knee. Yamasaki received some heat for allowing the fight to continue too long, stating later that he “allowed ‘Pedrita’ to be a warrior and keep fighting”, and UFC officials for booking what was considered a mismatch.
